Bloggimus Pottimus

My current sleeping schedule is totally out of wack. I had the last two days of work and utilized them by sleeping in until 12:30 and 11:00. Now it is quarter to one and I am five hours away from when I need to wake up and my body is refusing to sleep. I think it is really ticked at me and reminded me who is in charge by giving me this psycho tumtee ache. One of those ones where you feel like you are going to hurl or you-know-what and you never do either. I am deciding to call it the Limbos until I can think of a better name...... Speaking of limbo, anyone else watch Charm School tonight? Of course you didn't, because chances are you lead a completely fulfilling life with goals and dreams and such. Well Bay Bay Bay (my ex-favorite) pulled a classic bonehead move by quitting the competition because she had accomplished all she needed to do. Uh, girl, no you didn't. The prize for that show is $100,000 and I don't think you got that. Fake it if you have to. She also toyed with us, saying she was going to bring back Kiki (please, for comedy's sake, yes) or K.O. (no,no, NO!) but decided not too. At least it gave us some classic bantering between the girls, including another classic Bubbles quote. "You have to put your shoes in their shoes" I love having cable, VH1, and Celebreality in my life......We bought our plane tickets for Chicago tonight and i am geeked. Just a little more than a month away from the biggest concert phenomenon of my lifetime. Then I will finally have some interesting things to blog about.

Losing a Legend

Michael Jackson is dead. This sucks.

Just last week Devin and I were laughing our brains out watching Triumph the Insult Comic Dog insult MJ's fans standing out side of his child molestation trial from a few years back. It isn't as funny now. I have been watching replays of Michael's music videos on MTV all day and it really makes me so sad. You can say whatever you want about the dude's lifestlye, face, spending habits, etc. but he was a talented flippin' legend. Perhaps the greatest showman EVER. Our world would be so dramatically different if it weren't for him.

I am so majorly bummed out right now.

My Fave 25

About a year ago, Stephen King wrote and article in EW about his Top 20 Most Played Songs on his iTunes. It made for a pretty interesting article. (at least I found it interesting) His tastes ranged from rock to country to R&B, and who knew the King of Horror was so into ZZ Top? So I now give to you the Top 25 songs played on Cody's iPod (aka: Swarley)

25. Not the Same- Ben Folds (38)

24. I'm On a Boat- The Lonely Island feat. T-Pain (38)

You know you like it too.

23. Dancing Choose- TV On The Radio (38)

One of the best clapping songs of all time. One of the best bands right now.

22. Uncle Jonny- The Killers (38)

They are on here a lot and they are really just that good.

21. Mama's Room- Under the Influence of Giants (39)

20. Fistful of Love- Antony and the Johnsons feat. Lou Reed (39)

This band sings about a lot of strange things (this one is about spousal abuse) but their songs are flat-out beautiful.

19. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt.1- The Flaming Lips (40)

18. Fight Test- The Flaming Lips (40)

The first of my set of pairs. How cute.

17. My Rights Versus Yours- The New Pornographers (41)

16. All The Things That Go To Make Heaven And Earth- The New Pornographers (42)

These songs or the band have nothing to do with actual porn.

15. Flightless Bird, American Mouth- Iron & Wine (43)

This guy is coming to SLC in August and I am as giddy as a school girl about it.

14. Welcome Home- Coheed & Cambria (43)

A big example of how often I played Rock Band songs

13. The Electric Version- The New Pornographers (45)

Still not about porn.

12. Karen- The National (47)

First of two National songs, this guy's voice could vibrate the hairs of a mosquito's leg.

11. Get Back- Ludacris (49)

This one is just fun.

10. Rehab- Rihanna (50)

I just have to say that I loved this song waaaaaaaaaay before it got popular.

9. Daydreamin'- Lupe Fiasco feat. Jill Scott (50)

This man knows how to rhyme.

8. Sex On Fire- Kings of Leon (50)

Legen.....wait for it.....dary!

7. Spaceman- The Killers (53)

I was so excited for Day & Age to come out that when I got this song as a pre-order bonus, I listened to it ALL DAY.

6. Slow Show- The National (55)

5. If I Never See Your Face Again- Maroon 5 feat. Rihanna (55)

4. Breakin' Dishes- Rihanna (59)

This song should have been one of the 18,000 songs to get on the radio from Good Girl Gone Bad. IT'S HOT!

3. Hoppipolla- Sigur Ros (61)

If you have never heard this band before, kick yourself in the head, then go listen and enjoy.

2. Somebody Told Me- The Killers (68)

1.Umbrella- Rihanna feat. Jay-Z (73)

Was there ever any doubt? Like the Highlander, there can only be one and this song is it.

So there is my fave 25. What's yours?

PS- Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell is gaining fast.

Sleepy

Have you ever been so tired that you couldn't decide if you wanted to throw-up or cry? This is the point I have reached as I type at 7:50 a.m. on a perfectly crummy Saturday morning. Last night a few friends and I were in Salt Lake at the Urban Lounge to watch The Helio Sequence in concert. I originally thought the show began at seven, which I later learned it started at nine. After sitting through two adequate warm-up bands (Birthquake, anyone?) and their epically long set-ups, the Sequence finally took the stage at about 12:15. And, let me just say something here. Wow. I have owned Helio Sequence's Keep Your Eyes Ahead for more than a year, but I only listened to it occasionally. I thought the concert would be fun, but I was a little nervous my friends and I would be dissapointed. (Especially after the long wait) Not so. My expectations were completely blown out of the water, and then pummeled to death by a Sasquatch. Wet, pummeled expectations. The band was just great and I would totally recommend them to anyone. But there was one slight problem. I had to work this morning at 7, which meant only two and a half hours sleep after we got home at 3:30. (I got pulled over again on the ride home. Bleh.) I might be a little diva-ish, but this boy needs more sleep than that! I am going to go ahead right now and say that it is totally worth it, but with seven hours left to go on my shift, I might be re-thinking that.

Okay. Awesome.

Watch this now and thank me later. This video is of a great song by Das Racist remixed by Wallpaper. It is not an official music video so just listen to it. If this song doesn't become one of the hit songs of summer, then I do not know anything about life.

Lost Wallet

Does this frighten you?
It should.
This is not an actual photo of my wallet but it might as well be one. I suffer from what scientologists call the Costanza syndrome. Basically what the means is that anything that comes between the leather flaps will not come out.....EVER. Friday night, I became aware of my need to change this dirty, old habit. Here, let me tell you.

On Friday, my roommates and I went to the midnight movie at University 6. Of course, I had to pay for my ticket so my wallet came along. About midway through the movie my tush really started to hurt. I tried readjusting myself a few times, but eventually the wallet had to go. I placed it in the cup holder and vowed to grab it when we left. Well, I didn't. I was laughing so hard during the show that I totally spaced it. I realized what I had done the next day and after visiting the theater THREE TIMES they finally let me into the theater and look for my wallet. Luckily it had fallen underneath the seat behind me and all my credit cards, drivers license, etc. were still in there. Dealing with the incompetent high school employees (save one) was a joke and I think I lost between one and six dollars in cash. I also spend the entire day worried about it and spend the day watching John Cusack movies instead of doing something productive. So, now is the time for change (figuratively). I'm entering my wallet in the Biggest Losers: Wallets Edition.

So here is an inventory of everything contained in the fat rolls of my wallet.
